Loren J Kendall, 84, of Waterloo, died at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. He was born December 13, 1924 in Waterloo, son of Glen and Mayme Trusty Kendall. Loren graduated from the "old West High" in 1943 and also attended Iowa State Teacher's College. Loren served in the U.S. Army during WWII in New Guinea and Australia. He received the Bronze Star in addition to being wounded in action. He was a member of VFW Post #1623. Loren married Anna Kohlscheen on October 28, 1951 in Waterloo at First Congregational Church. He worked as a sales representative for 32 years for Bill Doran & Co., wholesale florists. Loren was an honorary member of the Society of Iowa Florists and Growers and served on its board of directors. He enjoyed working in the yard and his garden. Loren even named his dog Blossom. He is survived by his wife Anna of Waterloo, son Gary Kendall of Urbandale, Iowa, and daughter Theresa Vasconcellos, grandson Brandon (Tania) Vasconcellos, two granddaughters Allison and Ashley Vasconcellos, and great granddaughters Mackensi and Emma Vasconcellos, all of Peoria, Arizona. Loren is also survived by his brother Delano and his wife Dixie of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Loren is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Roy and Milo.
