Daughter's obituary: Florence Lindoo

Florence Julia Lindoo, 89, of 756 Irvine St., Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home of complications from Parkinson's disease.She was born March 12, 1914, in Port Edwards to Lola (Clark) and Irving Whitmore. The family moved to Ladysmith when she was a young girl where she graduated from Ladysmith High School in 1932. She attended Rusk County Normal School, and was then employed at the Pioneer National Bank in Ladysmith.Florence married Roger Lindoo on July 1, 1940, in Ladysmith. They resided in Ladysmith until 1951, when they moved to Chippewa Falls. In 1969, they moved to their lake home in Lafayette township, where they enjoyed canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and hosting picnics for their family and friends. They moved to the Chippewa Manor Retirement Community in December 2000.Florence worked at the Chippewa Falls Public Library for many years, primarily in the children?s room. The fit was perfect ? she loved reading and children. Some Chippewa residents may remember childhood hours spent listening to her as she read during story hour. She remained a supporter of the library after her retirement in May 1977. She was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church.Survivors include her husband, Roger; three daughters, Jeanne (Bob) Wright, Peggy Lindoo, all of Chippewa Falls, and Susan (Mike Wolesky) Lindoo of Newport, Minn.; a sister, Doris Smith of Ladysmith; two grandchildren, Linda (Donald Zans) Wright of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Steve (Penny) Wright of North Oaks, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Schuyler Zans, Mitchell and Carlye Wright.She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Pearl Orme, Edith Whitmore and Ruth Pedersen; and a brother, Russell Whitmore.A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at the Chapel of the Resurrection with the Rev. Fr. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Chapel of the Resurrection.Florence's family would like to thank all the good people at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home who made Florence's stay there so comfortable. Memorials in Florence's name may be given to the activity department at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home.Florence's gentle spirit will live on in the lives of her family and friends.
