"Lola Emma Buckman was the daughter of Solon Tobias Buckman and Adelaide Machen Buckman and was born on Dec. 22, 1859 in Stoughton , Dane Co., Wisconsin. At the age of 9 she and her parents moved to Illinois and the following year to Adel, Iowa. Here she lived until her marriage to W.W. DonCarlos on Nov. 9, 1881. They moved immediately to Greenfield, Iowa where she resided until her death on March 6, 1937. She had five sons, Solon J. of Greenfield, Floyd H. of Perry, Dewitt died on June 30, 1926, W.W. Jr., of Atlantic and Gaylord B. of Greenfield. Early in life she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and transferred her membership to Greenfield where she and her husband were affiliated fro so many years. They were among the first members of the church and held many official positions. She was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lady Washington Chapter No. 57 at Adel in 1878. On June 16, 1891 she affiliated with the Greenfield Chapter No. 91 and was a member for 56 years. During this time she held various offices for fourteen years and was Worthy Matron in 1897. She was also one of the founders of the Ladies Consistory Club of Greenfield. She and her husband where privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 9, 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 25, 1932. Lola Emma DonCarlos was a resident of Greenfield for 56 years and died at her home at 77 years of age on March 6, 1937 following a long illness. She is buried in the Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Iowa." ___________________________________________________________________________________
