SARATOGA SPRINGS - Lois K. Lauffer, 95, of Embury Apartments on Lawrence Street passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at her home while watching football on TV.
Born Feb. 15, 1917, in Swissvale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ruth (Wallover) Klingensmith. Lois graduated from Norwin High School in Irwin, Pa.
She married M. Scott Lauffer and the couple resided in Irwin, Pa., for several years before moving to Pittsburgh and lived in Dormont, Pa. He died April 26, 1957.
Lois worked for National Union Fire Insurance Co. in Oakland, Pa., and later Union National Bank in Pittsburgh for several years until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Dormont for many years.
Lois enjoyed playing the piano and organ, working crossword puzzles and watching sports on TV, especially the Steelers and the Pirates. She also enjoyed her hobby of collecting tea pots, cups and saucers, porcelain birds and Annalee dolls.
Her pride and joy was her family, and her ""little quotes"" will always be remembered and cherished by them.
Besides her husband and her parents, she was also predeceased by one daughter, Nancy Brownlee, and three sisters, Miriam Hardy, Betty Wentzel and Ruth Copeman.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia L. Harris (Robert) of Lake George (Glen Lake), N.Y.; six grandchildren, Laura A. Motisi (Rino) of Ellington, Conn., Dr. Nancy J. Murri of Avon, Colo., Cami S. Stewart (Roy) of Birmingham, Ala., H. Scott Brownlee (Dawn) of Gilbert, Ariz., Brian K. Brownlee (Ken Fries) of Pittsburgh and Robert D. Brownlee (Bonnie) of Dormont, Pa.; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Bay Road Presbyterian Church, 1167 Bay Road, Lake George. Burial will be at Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park in North Huntingdon, Pa.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Densmore Funeral Home Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.
The family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to The Wesley Foundation for Embury Apartments, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866; or to Bay Road Presbyterian Church, 1167 Bay Road, Lake George, NY 12845.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Embury Apartments and Dr. Tedesco and his staff for the kindness and care shown to Lois over the past several years.
