In Berlin, N. Y., Jan. 13th, 1869, of dropsy, Lodowick Saunders, aged 66 years. Brother Saunders was an old and honored member of the Berlin Church. His illness was long and painful. Few have ever known of an instance of such protracted and intense suffering. For months past his constant prayer and longing has been for his last hour on earth. Yet during it all, faith in Christ has been his comfort and support. When, at last, his release came, we all felt that his was a blessed change. Thus the old pillars are passing from the lower to the upper temple. May we prepare to meet him there. Funeral, Sabbath, Jan. 15th, sermon from 2 Cor. 4: 17 - "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." J. S.
