Obituary, http://www.fdstart.com/: Lloyd O. Tullis 87 of Fort Dodge entered the gates of Heaven Tuesday, March 29, 2005. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 1st at the Celebration Center, Friendship Haven with Rev. Bill Trembly officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military rites by the VFW 1856. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Surviving is his wife Viola; daughter Joyce Peitzman and husband Joe of Grimes; grandchildren, JoDee, Jordan, Joey, Josh and Jayson; step-sons, Dave Winters of Hiawatha, Kansas, Don Winters of Nashville, Tennessee; 5 step-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Clabaugh of Jewell, Eula Mae Clutter of Farnhamville; and his best buddy, Melvin Anderson. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Orval and Hazel (Hicks) Tullis, and his first wife, Marjory. Lloyd O. Tullis was born October 1, 1917 on the family farm near Lohrville. He attended schools in Rinard and graduated from Rinard High School in 1935. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army holding the rank of Sergeant serving in the South Pacific. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific and the Good Conduct Medals, 3 Bronze Stars, and the Presidential Unit Citation. Following his honorable discharge in 1945 he came to Fort Dodge. On March 25, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marjory Dutcher in Valentine, Nebraska and they established their home in Fort Dodge. Lloyd was employed as a carpenter and later as a construction supervisor for Woodruff-Evans until his retirement in 1981. On April 14, 1984, he was united in marriage to Viola Millea in Fort Dodge and they established their home here. Lloyd loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, fishing in Canada, was an avid bowler, enjoyed watching football, college basketball, and was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins. Memorials may be left to the Friendship Haven Care Trust Fund. |
