Lloyd D. Howton (1921 - 2011)
Lloyd Douglas Howton, 89, a retired research and development technician and World War II veteran, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, in Greenville. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Benbrook, 1015 McKinley St., Benbrook, Rev. Brad Cardwell and Dr. Todd Pylant officiating. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family visitation: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Memorials: The family requests memorials be made to Happy Hill Farm, 3846 North Hwy. 144, Granbury, Texas 76048 or iGo Global Ministries, 206 Industrial Court, Wylie, Texas 75098.
Lloyd was born Oct. 14, 1921, to Aaron and Lillie Howton in Stephens County. He was a graduate of Ranger High School and entered a career in the aircraft industry in 1942. He married Marjorie Arney on Dec. 11, 1943, in Dallas. Lloyd was a beloved husband, father and "Pa-Pa" to his family. He was also a devoted member of First Baptist Church Benbrook. Lloyd was preceded in death by his son, Lloyd Douglas Howton Jr.; his parents; and brother, Aaron Howton Jr.
Survivors: Wife of 67 years, Marjorie Howton of Greenville; daughter, Linda Cardwell and husband, Mike, of Greenville; daughter-in-law, Carol Howton of Fort Worth; grandsons, Brad Cardwell and wife, Christi, of Caddo Mills, Matt Cardwell and wife, Nancy, of Carrollton and Kyle Howton and wife, Jessica, of Houston; stepgranddaughter, Denise Prough of Fort Worth; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
