Lloyd E Doe

Lloyd E Doe, 69 of Fostoria, died peacefully in his home at 11:47 p.m. Fri day, Sept. 12, 2003, with family by his side.

Born Dec. 11, 1933, in Fostoria, to the late Roger E and Garnet M (Zimmerm an) Doe, he married Joyce E Wolfelt on April 23, 1955, in Conway, S.C S he survives in Fostoria. Mr. Doe is also survived by: two sons, Todd Doe of Fostoria and Thadley D oe of Bettsville; two daughters, Londa Vautaw of Columbus, Ind., and Shavo nne "Jane" Davis of Fostoria; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildre n; two brothers, Roger J Doe of Fostoria and Donald Doe of Findlay; and th ree sisters, Janet Keeton of Alvada, Ruth Ann Samett of Carey, and Kathle en Aken of Fostoria.

A daughter, Heather Doe, and two grandchildren also preceded him in death.

Lloyd was a police officer for the city of Fostoria for 28 years, retiri ng in 1981. He also owned and operated the Doeshire Inn, Fostoria, with h is wife.

Lloyd was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He w as a member of American Legion Post 73 and VFW Post 421, both in Fostoria.

Lloyd liked to keep busy and especially enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, a nd sports. He was an avid fan of the Fostoria Redmen and OH State Footba ll teams. Lloyd was an honest man and expected others to be honest with hi m. He was well known for being straightforward and "telling it like it was ."

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Mann-Ha re Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Bur ial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside rit es will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Fraternal O rder of Police memorial services will be held at 7 p.m.
