Linda L. Hurley, 76, of Nescopeck passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at Berwick Retirement Village, where she had been residing.
Born in Berwick on Oct. 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow W. “PeeWee” and Marion W. (Neff) Knorr. She graduated from Nescopeck High School in 1958. After graduating, she moved to Rochester, N.Y., where she worked at Friden and later Singer.
In 1977, she and her family returned to the area, and she worked at Tuggy’s in Mifflinville; then Berkheimer in Bloomsburg, and most recently as an aide at Berwick Hospital and Berwick Retirement Village. She retired in 2003 so she could baby-sit her grandchildren.
Linda was an active member of Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nescopeck, where she was active in several committees, including WELCA and the Altar Guild. She was also the youth group leader for several years. When her children were younger, she coached soccer. She enjoyed cooking, ceramics and doing yard work.
She will be greatly missed by her loving daughters: Michele Williams and husband Brian, Nescopeck; Kristine Mack and husband Emmett, Rogue River, Ore.; stepson, David Hurley, Rochester, N.Y.; cherished grandchildren: John, Peyton, Katie, Ryan, Aaron and Connor; a brother, Colin Knorr and wife Patricia, Redwood, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Hurley, in 2015; sisters: Susan Payne and Carol Knorr; and brother, Walter Minnick.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Heller Funeral Home LLC, 633 E. Third St., Nescopeck, with her pastor, the Reverend Jessica Kingsborough, officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
