He worked for Morse Shoes from age 15. Later became partner with Mr Morse in Morse and Haynes Co., Inc. He was treasurer. Served in Springfield Common Council 1899. Was a member of Sons of American Revolution member # 18492, joined 1907. Was clerk and treasurer of North Church in Springfield. Lived at 32 Fairfield St Springfield most of his adult life. Was living at 370 Worthington St, Springfield in 1890, with his mother.
Was appointed executor of the last wil and testament of Clara Belle Haynes (his sister) on 28 January 1947. Probate Court document and inventory etc. in files of David L. Haynes.
Buried in Oak Grove Cemetary.

1900 U. S. Census living in household of Everett Haynes at 39 Leyford Terrace Springfiled, MA. Also in the house were Ella R. Haynes (Everett's wife), Chester W. Haynes (Son), George W. Rice (Ella's Father), Bettie E. Rice (Ella's Mother), and Harriet B. Cook (Lincoln's Mother-in-Law)
1910 U. S. Census includes Jane Kirby from England, servant living in house.
