Personal History

At the beginning of Lillian's operatic career, an Italian maestro convinced her to change her name to Nordica, which means Lily of the North" because he didn't think European opera goers would attend a plain sounding American name. Later, she was known as Madame Nordica or Nordica. See Wikipedia [[1]].

Wikipedia lists her middle name as Allen. I have seen it in other genealogical sources as being Bavard or Bayard.

According to a pamphlet about Mme. Nordica, it states that she descends from the Mayflower line of John Tilley.
