Her mother's name was Amy Brownell. Melvin Hogmire married Almey Jane Brownell 23 Jun 1842 in Van Buren. Husband Age at Marriage: 24, Wife Age at Marriage: 17. No father is listed in the 1870 Census, father Melvin had died in 1861. One has to wonder about the family: the children were all in school, but Lillian's 10 and 11 year old brothers could read but could not write. The family may have been from Avon, Livingston County, NY.

Lillian and Marshall had two boys, William, b. abt 1875 and Fred, b. abt 1878 per the 1880 census. At least one more child, Clarence, must have been born after 1880. He is mentioned in the legal paperwork. When William was born, Lillian was living in Bloomingdale, last name Barker, but her husband's address was unknown.

Lillian J. Barker sold land to D. Barker on 7 March 1885.
