Lila Klemme - 87 yrs Iowa Falls, IA Date of Death: 07/04/2008 Lila Klemme, 87, of Iowa Falls, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at the Scenic Manor Health Care Facility in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in New Providence. Burial will be at the Honey Creek Cemetery in New Providence. Memorials may be directed to the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church, the Honey Creek Cemetery, Church of God and the Barlow Memorial Library in Iowa Falls. Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard is in charge of the arrangements.Lila Ann (Crabtree) Klemme was born on July 13, 1920, at home in southern Minnesota near Ellendale, Minn. She was born to Pearl (Hubbell) and Charles Wesley Crabtree.She was baptized at and became a member of the Methodist Church in Ellendale.Lila attended Rural School District 82 for the first eight grades, then attended and graduated from Ellendale High School. After graduation, she moved to Iowa and began to work as a housekeeper. She also worked as a cook at the Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls.On Jan. 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Maynard Klemme at the home of Uncle John and Aunt Ruth Crabtree in Bradford. Lila then worked at a nursing home and the County Home for eight years. In 1964, Lila started working as a cook at Quakerdale Home in New Providence until surgery disabled her. Lila and Maynard lived about 20 years in the New Providence area before moving to the Hubbard Retirement Apartments in 1982. Lila joined the Zion United Church of Christ in 1983. She moved her membership to the Church of God in Iowa Falls in 1996, after moving to Iowa Falls in 1989 to be near Maynard, while he was in the nursing home. Lila remained in her small home in Iowa Falls until she moved to a retirement home in Iowa Falls.Lila is survived by her sister, Marjorie Trandem of Fairbault, Minn.; cousins Verdell Kelly of Dows and Kathryn Rankin of Iowa Falls; nieces and nephews; along with many other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Maynard; twin sisters at birth; her brothers, Leslie Crabtree, C. Henry Crabtree, Edwin E. Crabtree and John M. Crabtree; and her sister, Arlene (Crabtree) Severson.
