Wills, Lewis - entered service 1781 in Virginia regiment & served in Battles of Jemestown & Siege of Yorktown; resided 1798 in Nash County, North Carolina, then 1818 to Greene County, Tennessee where received Pension in 1826 age 83; Thomas Lackey made affidavit age 69 in Hawkins County, Tennesseee, 1827 he served in same Rebvolutionary War regiment with soldier; soldier died 3/5/1832 in Greene County, Tennessee; married 10/15/1792 Elinder, Nash County, North Carolina; widow received Pension age 79 in Greene County, Tennessee, 1845, died there 4/22/1853; son Jacob applied for pension for mother's Pension arrears there 1856 age 49 for self & surviving siblings Robert, Sophia, Elinder & Martha who all resided there then; soldier's surname also epelled Willis.     Lewis Wills landed at Philadelphia in 1748 at the age of 4 years. His father died at sea during the voyage to America from Germany. He had a step-mother who took little interest in him. He was adopted by a family in Lancaster, Pa. He remained there until he was married at the age of 21 to Catherine Dick. [additional information on this family included].
