    ...Lewis Richards, who came to what is now Webster County, from Virginia, in 1800. He purchased a farm three miles north of Providence, of a Mr. Whitesides, giving in exchange, two "likely negro girls." He moved to what has since been known as the "Richard's farm," near Boxville, sometime previous to 1820. Lewis Richards was a soldier of the Revolution, under General Clark, and married Lucy Hunton, in the vicinity of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia. He died on the farm in 1845 or 1846. ...
