Land Record in Frederick County, VA

From Genforum.com post on Meredith Helm:

M-328: Capt. Lewis Neill of Frederick co. 520 A. on Opeckon in said Co.Surv. Mr. Thomas Rutherford. Adj. Thomas Helm, said Lewis Neill, Lewis Neill Jr., Meridith Helm dec'd. 2 Feb 1765

Meredith Helm Sr. and John Neill, father of Elizabeth and Margaret Neill, were both Justices of the Frederick County court and the families lived on adjoining properties. Lewis Neill was John Neill's son and inherited his father's plantation when his father died in Oct/ Nov 1750. Meredith Helm SR died without a will and settlement of his estate was dragged out for over a decade. His estate was not settled until 8 Feb 1769 when his son Thomas was granted an administrative settlement, so the land would have remained in his name until then at least.
