    reads: " My father was a farmer, took part in the Revolutionary War as
    Lieutenant, was taken prisoner by the British soldiers and lay in jall for
    some time in Charleston, SC. He was wounded, though not very seriously, which
    made his caputre easy. After his release he returned to the army, served
    until the war closed and received his discharge in the regular manner, serving
    nearly all the time of the war.]
