Lewis G. Callarman
1916 - 2003
Lewis G. Callarman, 86, passed away at the Chanute Health Care Center on Monday, February 10, 2003.
Born on April 1, 1916 at Buffalo, Kansas, he was the son of Frank Callarman and Ester Crumrine.
He grew up in Buffalo and was a graduate of Buffalo High School Class of ‘35.
On December 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Rosie Smith, she survives of the home. The couple farmed southwest of Chanute. He was employed by the Western Petrol Chemical Plant for more than 23 years.
A life long area resident, he spent many hours with his children and grandchildren on the banks of the Neosho River. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Lewis loved to play Bingo and play music with his wife and friends.
He held membership with the United Methodist Church of Buffalo and the ACWU.
Surviving Lewis are his wife Rosie Callarman of the home, sons Mickey Callarman of Chanute and Gerald Callarman of Thayer; daughters Janice Welch and Barbara Blair of Chanute, Linda Borton of Neodesha; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and brother Eugene Callarman of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by son Steven Callarman, grandson Wade Wasson, brother Lawrence Callarman, and half sisters Virgia and Althea.
Graveside service will be held at the Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Bill Peters officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Chanute Health Care Activity Fund and may be left in care of the Johnson Mortuary.
