On May 7, 1875, Lewis B. Alspach wrote his will, directing "that his stepmother, Susannah Alspach, be well paid for her trouble in attending me through my sickness" and "bequeathed to my only brother and heir Reuben W. Alspach all my property both real and personal, Charles Alspach named executor. Witnessed by Manassah Glick and John W. Alspach.".
