    Jacob W. Alspach - b. July 1, 1803, Manheim Twp., Berks Co., Pa. d. March 14, 1874, Fairfield Co., Ohio, bur Betzer Cemetery. Jacob W. married twice according to Fairfield Co records: 1st - Nov. 3, 1815 to Caroline Bridvill, 2nd - Oct. 30, 1862, Susannah Schickenquast. Case # 5052 shows he was survived by his second wife, Susannah and two sons Jacob W and Lewis. Gave property to Jacob W and Lewis, equally, and a silver watch to grandson Jacob Frederick Alspach. [JPR NOTE: this was Vivian's father, Fred J. Alspach).

    In the 1840 Census Mary Ann Spode was living with Jacob W. Alspach. Her age was 14, born in Ohio. Since two of Jacob W.'s sisters married a Spode, I would say she was a niece.

    In 1808, George bought from Jacob and Mary Alspach 102 more or less acres in Range 20 twp. 14 Sec 26, Bloom twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio. This same piece of land was given by George Alspach in his will to his son, Jacob W., for 10 dollars an acre (case # 2055).
