Purported service in the United States Civil War --
There are some suggestions that Levi Clark served in the Civil War in the United States, presumably based on the appearance of the name in Missouri in United States, Civil War Soldiers Index. However, these are for different men with the same name. One, who enlisted in the 25th Infantry and transferred to the 1st Engineers (Missouri), filed an invalid pension claim in August 1890 while a resident in Nebraska.[11] The other Levi Clark who appears in the Index for Missouri was born in Tennessee.[12] Neither of these men is the Levi Clark who married Lavinia Dunn and lived in Putnam County, Missouri.
