This family group info. from "Genealogy of the Proudfoot Family 1986" by Dorsey and Muriel Proudfoot of 8702 Galena Dr., El Paso, TX 79904. Also see John and Margaret (Wotring) Felton: see extensive Roy Family report in 1987 Warren Co. IA Historical Society book, History of Warren Co., IA Vol 1, pg. 899. This family had strife with Civil War stands that divided Leonidas from his parents and sibling, who were sympathetic to the South; so they moved to Warren County, Iowa (bought farm near New Virginia) from WV. His father and three of his brothers were Confederate soldiers. Leonidas later formed a partnership in an Osceola, IA produce business. He was obviously a good businessman as well as a successful farmer. People later called him "Uncle Lee" when he moved to New Virginia (around 1890) and owned both a blacksmith shop and a woodwork shop near his home. A Warren Co., IA will record dated 11 July 1856 of George Roy, son of Lee Roy is reported at the Warren Co. Historical Library, but I have not had time to copy it.
