1930 Feb. 18, Jefferon City (MO) Post-Tribune Child Adopted Three Times Back to Mother Kansas City, Kas., Feb. 18--(AP)--Adopted three times in her ten years, Goldie Marie Bonner today wept happy tears when Probate Judge Henry Beade returned the child into the custody of her mother, Mrs. Andrew Goff, of Warsaw, Mo.

Goldie was adopted in 1925 by Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Johnson when the mother was left a widow with three children and was unable to support them all. A death in the Johnson family made it impossible for them to provide for the girl and she was returned to the court.
Mr. and Mrs. Owen McDermott then adopted the child. Financial reverses caused them to again give up the child and she was taken into the family of Mr. and Mrs. OSWALD ONSEN.
A month ago Mrs. Goff, who since has remarried, begged Mrs. ONSEN to give up her claims to Goldie, explaining that she could now care for the child. Mrs. ONSEN agreed. --from the actual page image at NewspaperArchive.com

After Leona May's death sometime prior to 1952, Oswald married Eunice Belle Waters, July 18, 1952, in Van Buren Co., Iowa. What happened to Leona May between Jan. 1942 and July 1952? It's known that she was deceased prior to the birth of her grandson, Alfred Eugene "Gene" Onsen.
