Final Rites for Mrs. B. McDowell
A large number of friends assembled in the Barry Funeral Home Chapel at 10 o'clock last Friday morning to pay final tribute to Mrs. Leona Dendy McDowell, wife of Banks McDowell. She died in her sleep early Wednesday morning.
The rites were conducted by the Rev. Allison Bell, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and the Church Choir sang "Face to Face". Mrs. C.A. Lyles was the accompanist. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Barry in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were: Lile Murphree, W.G. Chenault, Tom Woodfin, W.M. Henson, J.L. Spencer and Herd Hill.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McDowell leaves a daughter, Lieutenant Joyce McDowell, El Paso, Texas; two sons, Banks McDowell, Jr., a grand-daughter, Carolyn Ellen McDowell of Tulsa; a sister Miss Fredericka Dendy, and a brother, S.T. Dendy, all of whom were here.
Among others coming were: Mrs. Banks McDowell Jr. of Tulsa, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Carlisle of Starkville, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Brady, Tim and Cindy Brady of Atlanta, Ga., Tom Cole of Amory, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Rish, Virginia Rish of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Tatum of Oxford, Mr. and Mrs. Monty Young, Miss Emily Young of Grenada, Mr. and Mrs. Appleton Owen of Fayette.
