Mr. Earl NIX I guess you will be surprised to get a letter from me, but after the visit me and my two daughters had with you and your wife in May , thought I would write and tell you all how much we enjoyed talking to you. I think I found out more about the NIX family, we found a Daniel Nix tomb down at Moody's Chapel. Don't know if that was your Dad's tomb or not, Where was your Dad buried at, I have heard my Dad (Gurley Tillson)talk aboutUncle Daniel Nix,(Daniel, brother of Tyre and son of Jennings) also where is your Grand Dad (Harrison Jenning, buried at Moody's)buried?

I belive your wife said you went over the mountain to get her, and what place was she raised? Do you know of a Alton Thomas that lives in Attalla ? 609 Peachtree street 35954, he is my second cousin. I didn't know about him when we were out there, that is my Aunt Adalines grandson. My dads sister's son would like to sit down and talk with you a long time. Maybe we could find more about the Nix family, Now I belive I told you when we visited you all, that there were just two of GrandPa NIX's children, Dad and Aunt Adaline. And Grand Nix died in the war, had measles and never did come home. I think my GrandMothaer Nix was a Holden After my dad came to this country he just lost track of all the folks,

only Aunt Adaline, and after she passed a way they didn't hear from any of her children, and I have waited too late to learn much about any of his people. I would like to no something of my GrandMother Nix's side of the family, but don't know how to go about it as I don't know who to contact. If you can get any information I would appreciate it if you would write me.

Well I guess you all are having some hot weather? It has really been hot and dry out here how ever we had a cool temperature yesterday and today. Sure would to see it come a good rain, gardens are burning up.

I know you all enjoyed your son's visit wish we could have met him. We would be glad for you and your wife to visit us. I will go for now, let us hear frroom.you,. I feel like we are related way, but don't how much.but I learned to love you and your wife what short time we were there. So bye for this time and may the Jesus Lord keep you both in his care is my prayer.

                         Love, Lena NIx Harvey

Dear Cousin; Sorry I have been so long about answering your letter,Thought I would write ever day but just didn't get around to it. We have had an awful dry hot summer, a few showers along. gardens have really suffered. Hope this finds you and family O.K. We are doing very well, this hot weather has been kindly bad on me. Yes I wish we could have had longer to stay and talk. I feel that we could have learned more about our ancestors, now we would like to have had you with us when we went down to Moody's Chapel. We found one or two Daniel Nix tombs. I have heard my Dad speak of Uncle Daniel and Uncle Harrison. and also Uncle John Nix. I am sending you a list of the names of some we got while down there, don't know if they will help of not. Now Alton Thomas is my Dads sister (France Adaline) Grandson, Wiley Thomas son, the only child Wiley has living. Eldredge Thomas lives in Ohio, that is the only child Aunt Adaline has living. He is 82 years old . I talked to him Sunday night on the phone and if nothing happens and I stay able to go I plan to go visit him later on , maybe early fall. He is begging me to come up there and see him. I am sure I can learn a lot about the Nix family from his Mother was a Nix, my Dad's sister. What county is Gallant in, is it Blount of Etowah? If I was able to get around good and could see I would come out there and go to Gadsden and look up some of the Nix family and see if I could find out who my Dad's mother was and also My Grand Daddy Nix mother. They show five of family generations. If you can go and talk to Alton Thomas, maybe he could give you some information on his grandmother's side. If I get to go to see Eldredge and find out anything I will let you know, I know you are some relation of mine, but I don't know just what. I guess the reason I am so anxious to find out about my folks is because my husband is gone and I don't have him. When I had him I was satisfied, didn't think much about it, but now I find it real interesting to try and trace some of them up.

Well I guess you are tired of hearing so much and me asking so many questions, I am sending you the names of what we got down at Moody's Chapel. Don't know if they will fit in or not, tell your wife hello and I love you all. Would be glad for you all to drive over to see us some time. Write when you find time.

Love to both of you and May God Bless and keep you in his care.

           Lena Harvey

Hi Jim; I am not sure that I ever answered this e-mail from you, if not I apologize.Yes we have a lot of our NIX family at Moodys, including my Grand Parents and GGrand Parents.I am a bit confused about the picture of Lena Harvey, I think that may be the wife of Harvey Andrew NIX, my Great Uncle. He was married to Allie (Alice Missouri) Payne, and that would make her the niece, by marriage of Frances Adaline NIX, married to Rev. William F.Thomas. If that is the case I would love to have a copy of the picture, in fact I would love to have it any way if you can tell me who it is if I am wrong. Were you able to collect any additional information at the family reunion?
