1910 census says Lena M Hasty daughter, single Mother of 3 children all 3 living. Lena Mae HASTY was a very "with it" person. She always liked new things. The 1st time Elvis Presley appeared on the Ed Sullivan show she liked him. She could also do almost anything that called for hard skills. She could crochet, tat, quilt, arrange flowers, and sew. She was a life-long church-goer, and she never wore pants--always dresses. After her husband died, her children bought her a house on Metcalf Street in Cottonwood, AL. For years, she sewed for others, creating her own patterns if necessary, from newspaper. She mowed her own lawn well into her 70's and dipped snuff until the day she died. We don't think she went beyond the 8th grade in school. But she was a remarkable person.
