Lemuel May was Lieut fo Capt. Lemuel Childs Co. ( 3rd Roxbury) Col. Wm. Heaths regiment, April 19, 1775.  Was Captain of the 10th Co., Col Wm. Mc Intosh's regiment, First Suffolk Co., Massachusetts Militia.  His commission is dated may 10th, 1776.  His grave is still to be found in the buring ground of the First Unitarian Church, Jamica Plain, formerly Roxbury, Mass.  They said Lemuel May is the ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence while acting in the capacity of Captain of the 10th Co., Col. William Mc Intosh's regiment, First Suffolk company Massachusetts Militia.
