    Larry S. Olson

    Lawrence S. "Larry" Olson, 79 of Topeka died late Thursday, May 31, 1990, at a Topeka convalescent center.
    Mr. Olson was as assistant city auditor in the finance department of the City of Topeka for 20 years. He retired Sept. 1, 1974. Before that he worked from 1927 to 1937 for Capper Publications, for Kansas Power and Light in Topeka and Atchison, and the Veterans Administration in Wadsworth from 1941 to 1944.
    He was born July 5, 1910, in Topeka, the son of Swedish immigrant parents Sven and Elizabeth Enander Olson. He was graduated from Topeka High School.
    Mr. Olson attended the Swedish Baptist Church, now West Side Baptist Church, and was a member of First Baptist Church from the mid 1940's on.
    He also was a member of the Altrusa Sunday School Class and American Baptist Men, both Kansas and National.
    He and his wife received a certificate of recognition for distinguished Christian Service from the church in 1981. He was married to Arvilla Swank on May 20, 1938 in Topeka. She survives. Other Survivors include a son, Arlin Lee Olson, Hayward, Calif; a sister, Grace E. Thompson, Alhambra, Calif.; a brother Kenneth A. Olson, Granada Hills, Calif.; and a granddaughter. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Mr Olson will lie in state after 5 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home where family and friends will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
