Arvilla T. Olson
Arvilla T. Olson, 87, Topeka, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at her home.
She was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Portis, the daughter of Clinton E. and Alice May Knoll Swank.
She graduated from high school in Osborne in 1931. She lived most of her life in Topeka.
Mrs. Olson was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Atchison, Calvary Baptist Church at Leavenworth, Central Baptist Church at Springfield, Ill., and Westside Baptist Church in Topeka. She was a member of First Baptist Church at the time of her death. She had served on the board of directors of the Christian Women Club of Topeka, a member of American Baptist Women and the SWAP Club. She received a certificate of recognition award for Distinguished Christian Service in 1981.
She married Lawrence S. Olson on May 30, 1928, in Topeka. He died May 31, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Arlin L. Olson, San Martin, Calif.; three sisters, Kathrine Peter, Hays, Vivin Griess, Camarillo, Calif.; and Neva Bos, Osborne; (added 4/29/99, a brother , Dale Swank, Garden City); and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Olson will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Topeka or to Midland Hospice of Topeka and sent in care of the funeral home.
