Passing of Mrs. Laura Ash Her Life Passed in Chester, Where She Had Many Relatives and Friends Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Ash, wife of Mr. Guy Ash, passed away at her home in Chester, Sunday morning, February 2, after an illness of five days of quincy, aged 36 years. Mrs. Ash was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lamie, long residents of Chester, both now deceased, the mother passing away but four weeks ago. She was born in Chester and 36 years of life lived there. On October 14, 1896, she was married to Guy Ash who survives her with three children, Clare aged 9 years, Doris 7 years, and Clark 4 years of age. She also leaves two brothers and one sister: George C. Lamie, and Mrs. Dennie McCormick of Chester, and Ralph, of Detroit. The above article from Vermontville Scrapbook Volume 1, Page 158, February 5,1913 Mrs. Laura Ash was a prominent worker in the Congregational society of Chester and highly respected for her good womanly qualities in all the affairs of the community, which labored for its best interest. For the past two years she has been the valued correspondent of the Leader at Chester, and none outside of her immediate family and friends were more filled with regret and disappointment than its publisher and associates upon receiving the unwelcome news of her being so quickly called away. Being thus called, in her younger womanhood, leaving husband, andthree children of tender age, words can only reach those who are left behind, and to them we join in extending our sincere sympathies. As even the sparrows fall is not unnoted by He who is always present to guide, so will his sustaining strength and guidance he surely present continuously with this family in their affliction and loss. The funeral was held at the home on Wednesday at eleven o'clock and burial at the Gresham cemetery. The above article taken from the Vermontville Scrapbook Vol. 1, Page 159, February 13, 1913 |
