Identity

Laura is listed in the 1860, 1870, and 1800 censuses with Marshall and Montgomery Hopkins, and identified as their sister in the 1880 census.

Since it appears from the 1850 census that Nancy (Hall) Hopkins was already widowed and aged 54, it is highly unlikely that Laura was her biological daughter, but she could have been an adopted daughter.
