    ----
Larry J. Liscum, 71, of Great Falls, a retired transmission mechanic and union iron worker, died of natural causes Sunday, May 5, at Missouri River Care and Rehabilitation.

Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at O'Connor Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. O'Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Larry was born April 10, 1942, to John and Wilma Liscum in Great Falls, where was raised and educated. In 1973, he was united in marriage to Monica McMillen. Together they raised their children and remained each other's constant companion.

When Larry was a young man, he worked as a smelter man for the Anaconda Copper Mining Company. He later worked as a union ironworker for Local 32. Larry was a true mechanic and worked on vehicles his entire life. In 1982, he started his own business, "Liscum Transmission." He remained there until his retirement in 2007.

As a young man, Larry got into racing stock cars at the Great Falls Speedway. He raced there for many years and shared that passion with his family. Later in life, he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his boys, family and his many friends. He also enjoyed snowmobiling to a little cabin in the woods. He would take long drives through the woods in his 1971 Chevy pickup (A.K.A. "Casper") with his wife. They spent many weekends camping with his brother and sister-in-law. He was known as a performer to many of his friends, and his favorite saying was "I got the floor."

Larry is survived by his wife, Monica Liscum of Great Falls; sons Aaron W. (Christa) Liscum, Kelly Liscum and Patrick (Sherrie) Liscum, all of Great Falls; brother and sister-in-law Dave and Polly Olson; cousin Charlie Lawlor; niece Terah (Jake) Olson Lehman; nephews Zach (Jamie) Olson and Ben Olson; and grandchildren Doug Mills, Sam Rutherford, Seth Liscum, Colleen Liscum, John Liscum, Aaron J. Liscum and Dayton Liscum.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilma Liscum; and grandparents Adolph and Alice Yelocan and George P. and Lennie Liscum.

Donations in Larry's memory can be made to G.F.T.B.R.A, c/o Russ Ehnus, P.O. Box 602, Great Falls, MT 59403.
