On the 1860 census he is age 2/ 12 (2 months) with parents in Goodhope, S. Bloomfield Post Office, Hocking Co., Oh.[p 37 fam #522/515] In 1870, age 10, he continues with parents there.[p 453 fam #168/168] The 1800 census finds him, age 20, listed as in the home of Emanuel Conrad, his brother, in E. Precinct , Jackson Twp., Darke Co., Oh.[p 220B fam #50/51] He married Laura Ellen SULLENBARGER 28 Feb 1892 in Darke Co., Oh. [DkCoM-1, p. 57] She was born 12 Jul 1870 in Darke Co., Oh., the dau. of George M. and Kathryn (Hart) Sullenbarger. On the 1900 census, Lafayette, 40, and wife Ella L., 29, are in Jackson Twp., Darke Co., Oh. With them is son Ray B, age 4. There is no occupation listed for him, but is most probably farming. Ella declares they have been married 8 years and she has born 2 children, one living at this time. [ED 59, p 60, fam #14/14] In 1910, "Lafe R.", a farmer, is 49, and Ella, 39, are in Jackson Twp., Union, Darke Co., Oh . They have three children in their home on "Elry Pike."[ED 92, p 9A, fam #187] They are still in Jackson in 1920. Lafayette, 59 is still farming. Ella is now 49, and caring for the two youngest, who are still in the home.[ED 108 p 6A, fam #119/119] Lafayette died 5 Jun 1934, and Laura died 10 Feb 1959 both in Darke County, Oh.
