Lael was buried in the Redwood Cemetery in SLC, Utah Since sister, Lael, wrote notes about everyone else, but not herself, I feel that I should at least write a few lines. Lael was a blessed event in the Ottley Family circle as the only girl among five brothers. She was not spoiled as might be expected but took her bumps right along with the boys. She covered for her brothers while they made war, helping the family to survive during less than prosperous times. She loved deeply, her family and friends and made them a part of her life, if not directly, in her writings. She followed the example of her parents to preserve the records of ancestors and used her talents to teach the gospel. She encouraged me to understand the importance of Family History. Recognizing the advantages of computer records, she learned the PAF programs fast, spending hours preparing them for Ancestral File and Temple Ready. She will always be remembered as a devoted nurse to her parents as well as to Martel's parents in their last years on earth. She remembered birthdays and anniversaries of many beyond her own family and sent greetings or letters to many. It was Lael who kept track of the cousins and let her brothers know their activities, even to their demise as well as her's. Much more could be written of her life of service, but I will leave that to her husband and children who knew her best. |
