Facts and Events
Name Konrad Regula
Gender Male
Birth? 1733 Waldgrehweiler
Marriage to Margaritha Klein

It is likely that KONRAD never left his homeland of the Palatinate. The only documents about him are probably WALDGREHWEILER Church records, and perhaps some information, which a descendant harbors.

Konrad is the eldest who has this surname of which this compiler knows. There was at least one other Regula in one of the villages surrounding Waldgrehweiler. This compiler does not know if there are other separate lines of Regulas in the area. On WeRelate.org, there are 37 Regula surnames. Speculation is that the Regula surname is of earlier Swiss origin. Stoller notes that the surname Regula was known in Annweiler (which is in the southern part of the Palatinate) from 1593-1645.

It is not known if the Regula surname has died out in the Palatinate region. We do know that Konrad's grandson, Adam Regula, Sr. did migrate to Tuscarawas County, Ohio. He was probably the first to arrive, in 1834. His older brother Gustav migrated later, in 1847. At this time, the destination of the Regula Family immigrants, and other Waldreghweiler pioneers was Bucks Township, up in the remote hills of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Here they thrived.

Konrad's great-grandson Frederick Regula, was the first merchant in Philipsburg (now Stone Creek), Ohio. Stone Creek was located in Jefferson Township. In "White Creek's" genealogy computer program there are 18 persons named REGULA, who have some kind of association with Stone Creek. This would be: births, baptisms, deaths, or burials. There is no family which has more. Apparently no Regula moved on to Wabash County, Indiana. There are 7 names associated with the Rausch Family; some of which moved on to Wabash County, Indiana. There are 6 representatives of the Hoffman Family associated with Stone Creek. The Kohler Family also has 6. Altogether, there are 18 different related surnames associated with the village.

The Tuscarawas County Genealogical Society, at their library in Dennison, Ohio, has three Regula Family Histories:

929.2 R265re REGULA

929.2 R265re Konrad REGULA

929.2 R265re REGULA Family, 1763-1955

REGULA descendant Delores, married William Harley LOWER, in Tuscarawas County, Ohio; thus "linking" the Daniel Lower (1792-1876) family, with this HIRSTEIN Lower line; of which there are many in these WeRelate.org pages.
