Gray (male 1850 Irvine, Ayrshire, banker) Midlothian (ancestry.com census). The children’s births are on IGI; the mother of Alexander was “Kezia Scott Mackenzie or Rankin” (IGI). Thus Kezia had a connection with Irvine. In 1851 David Gray (1801 Irvine, brewer), wife Georgina ?McKenzie (1817 Edinburgh), son Mungo M.C. (1850 Irvine) were at Bridgegate, Irvine, Ayrshire (freecen census). Georgina was maybe related to Kezia; Mungo Campbell Mackenzie Gray was b. 1849 at Irvine, son of Georgina Gibson Mackenzie (1813 Edinburgh) (IGI). The husband of Georgina, David Gray, was maybe town clerk in 1866 and executor of the will of Thomas Campbell, who married Anne Rankine. GWR shares of late John Allan Rankin of Heathfield (d. ?14sep1864) passed to Mrs. Kezia Scott Mackenzie or Rankin, relict, and John Muir, John Harvey, Thomas Campbell, David Gray, John Smith, Alexander Gilmour. GWR shares were transacted on marriage of Kezia Scott Rankin to Alex Crombie, 23feb1867 (findmypast). The certificate of death of Keziah Scott Crombie, wife of Major Alexander Crombie, late of 61 Belgrave Rd., London, was verified by William Christie, 20feb1880, of Gilmour and Christie, W.B., Irvine; this affected GWR shares of David Gray, town clerk, late of Irvine, John Muir (Edinburgh), Alexander Gilmour (Irvine writer), John Paterson (Irvine banker), Alexander Bennett McGrigor (Glasgow writer) (findmypast). The death, 6jan1881, of David Gray (Irvine town clerk), verified by Wm Christie, affected Keziah Scott Crombie (wife of Major Alexander Crombie), John Muir (Edinburgh), Alexander Gilmour (writer, Irvine), John Paterson (banker, Irvine), Alexander Bennett McGrigor (writer, Glasgow) (GWR shares, findmypast). Gilmour and Paterson were sons in law of Anne Rankine (1795 Sorn, Ayrshire-1860 Irvine), cousin of John Allan Rankin. References
