    Keturah Brown Clark was the daughter of James Brown Jr., a wealthy landholder and slave owner of Maryland, for many years extensively engaged in domestic and foreign commerce. He died in early life and his widow Elizabeth Clarkson Brown, subsequently came with her children and her brother-in-law, White Brown, to Ohio, locating in Ross County, where her daughter Keturah met and married Colonel William H. Clark.
