Kenneth Wayne Speedy, 95, Mifflin, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Born July 2, 1921, near Eckerty, he was the son of the late Monroe and Lennie VanWinkle Speedy.
He graduated in 1939 from French Lick High School,served in World War II in Italy with the Army in the 10th Mountain Infantry, was a dairy farmer, served as Crawford County surveyor and a director for Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative and was involved in many farm organizations.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sylvia Leasor, Evelyn Jordan and Joyce Walton.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Clara Speedy; three children, Shirley Shields (Stephen) of Rockport, Steven Speedy (Wanda) of Mifflin and Doria Holzbog of Huntingburg; four sisters, Helen Dunlap, Dorothy Byers, Norma Jean Buford and Wanda Buford Carr; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Monday, Aug. 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 9, after 10 a.m. at Denbo Funeral Home in English. Funeral: Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Bethany Union Cemetery.
