Kenneth L. Hansen, 82, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb 2, 2012, at home after a long illness with his loving family by his side. Born January 7, 1930 to L. Bent and Emma (Bergeson) Hansen in Rochelle, IL. Married his beloved wife Lois Thuestad on August 23, 1991 in Jacksonville, FL. Ken served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and had a total of 9 years, active duty and reserve. He was a life member at the Clifford E. Johnson VFW post #9759 in Loves Park, IL. He loved to golf, ride horses and farm. Survivors include wife, his sons; Mark Hansen of CA., Michael Hansen of Sun Prairie, WI., daughter Marcia Hansen of CA., step daughters; Kim Sincavage of Ocean Springs, MS, Deborah (Thomas) Freeman of Machesney Park, IL., Melanie (Curtis) Harris of Loves Park, IL. Additional survivors include ten grandchildren; SSG. Joseph (Casey) Whelchel of Ocean Springs, Ms., Gerald Smith of Machesney Park, IL., Shannon (Levi) Bushman, stationed in Italy (Air Force)., Blair Lemons of Loves Park, IL., Steven (Lenita) Smith of MT., Jamie (Josh) Klamans of Rockford, IL., Martin Harris of Loves Park, IL., Cole Hansen of Sun Prairie, WI., Paul (Kelly) Sincavage of KY., Andy Sincavage of NJ. Thirteen step great grandchildren include; Chase and Breanna Bushman with parents in Italy, Jaryn and Kamryn, Ali and Austin Whelchel of MS., Alton, Nicholas and Matthew Smith of Machesney Park, IL., Cade Lemons of Loves Park, IL. Logan Smith of MT, Zayne Klamans of Rockford, IL., and TJ Sincavage of NJ. Brothers; Ronald (Leota) Hansen of Rochelle, IL. and Carl (Peggy) Hansen of Abilene, KS. Sisters; Marlene (Galen) Kruger of Sikeston, MO. and Jill Lillie of Oregon, IL. and many nieces, nephews. Brother-in-Laws; Lester “Mick” (Arlene) Shaw of Rockford, Dennis (Lisa) Shaw of Lindenwood, IL.,Konrad Swift of CO.,Steven L. Smith of Machesney Park, IL and Michael Sincavage of Ocean Spring, MS., sister-in-law Tammy (Eric) Johnson and special friend Dorothy Moore of Rockford. Previous spouses; Kay Furman of FL. and Joyce Berg of Dixon, Il. Predeceased by parents, brothers; Ralph and Bent, sisters; Glenese Bowers, Beverly Kruger and Patricia Miller, brother-in-laws Richard Kruger, Martin Eakle, Laurence Lillie, David Shaw and Dyne Bowers. Sister-in-law Blanche Hansen and Suzanne Erickson. Mother and Father-in law Dwight and Jean Shaw. Special thanks to Dr. Dale Gray, Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center; Terri, Nikki, Ken, Deb, Kristen, Lisa, Erica, Nancy, Emalina and his candy lady; Donna. Hopefully we didn’t miss anyone. Also special thanks to his grandson Gerald Smith and his stepdaughter Deborah Freeman who helped in the care of Ken. Services will be held at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 North 6th Street, Rochelle, IL., visitation will be Friday, Feb 10 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services Saturday, February 11, 2:00 pm. With Rev. Bob Sheets of Riverside Community Church of Loves Park officiating. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery, Rochelle, Il. Memorials to the Family.
