Kenneth Dale Gimpel April 7, 1926 - Jan. 23, 2005 Kenneth Dale Gimpel died Sunday, Jan. 23 at the Chadron Community Hospital after a short illness. He was 78 years old. A remembrance memorial service was held at the Eagles club in Crawford, on Jan. 27 for friends and family. A memorial has been established for the Crawford Rescue Unit. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, Neb. 69337. Kenneth Gimpel was born April 7, 1926 to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Winifred Gimpel in Madison, S.D. After graduating high school he joined the Navy on April 4, 1943 and served honorably in WWII until April 1, 1947. He was a survivor of landing both on Guam and Hiroshima. After the service Mr. Gimpel worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and retired from the Civil Service as an engineer at Concord Navy Weapons Station in Concord, Calif. Survivors include: his son Craig and wife Dora Gimpel; brother Ronald Gimpel; sister DeAnn Kirby and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his father Arthur; mother, Winifred; and brother, Greydon. |
