He was an airplane nut - he rebuilt planes from boxes of parts, and owned four when he died.

He was involved in three major automobile accidents. Fell out of a 1938 Cadillac at 50 MPH, at age of 2 1/2. Involved in Jeep rollover when he was 13 - his head was pinned between Jeep and a rock - suffered 7 skull fractures, but never lost consciousness. Killed in accident before he was 32.
