K. S. Dargan, an old resident and well known citizen of Paris, died at 7 o'clock last evening at his home at the corner of 15th and Kaufman streets, following an illness which had lasted several months.
He was sixty-seven years old and was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina.
He came to Paris in 1877 from Louisiana, where he had spent a few years after leaving his native state, and resided here continuously up to the time of his death. He was engaged in the fire insurance business during all the time that he lived here and was not only the oldest insurance man in Paris, but was one of the oldest in North Texas. He was one of the first members of the old volunteer fire department and was one of the moving spirits in it, taking very active interest.
After coming to Paris Mr. Dargan married Miss Edith Read, the daughter of Dr. R. H. Read, a prominent Methodist minister.
His wife and two sons and four daughters survive him.
The sons, K. S. Dargan, Jr. and Read Dargan, are engaged in the insurance business in Houston.
The daughters, Mrs. R. R. Brooks and Misses Marguerite, Edith and Clara, all live in Paris.
The funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at his late residence. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.
