She was born in Traverse City on November 25, 1939 to Lelan and Bessie (Lukavec) Eckstein. Kathy married Larry Coyne in December of 1962 and together they raised six children. For over 2O years Kathy worked with her close friend, Elaine Vasquez, at Vasquez' Hacienda in Elk Rapids. She also volunteered for the Elk Rapids EMS for several years. Kathy enjoyed gardening, knitting, camping, fishing, motorcycles, NASCAR, and traveling. She was a free spirited and fearless woman who loved polka and country music. Though she will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends, it is comforting to know she is on her greatest adventure and reunited with those who left this Earth before her.Kathy is survived by her children Ed (Chari) Wilson, Lonnie Carter (Carol Rose), Tammie (Mark) Viglione, Jodie (Brian) Perrault, and Cindy (Dan) Prokup; grandchildren Jennica, Heather, Dana, Amy, Christopher, Lonnie, Joshua, Geordon, Amanda, Nick, Joey, Zachary, Lee, Sarah,Willie; 8 great grandchildren; siblings Virginia, Lee (Gwen), Lamar, Pauline, and dear friend Darlene Maynard.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, son Lelan "Chris" Wilson, brothers Milo and David, and dear family friend Irv Maynard.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 11am to 1pm, with a funeral service starting at 1pm at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Antrim County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 568, Bellaire, MI 49615.
