    "While we are not sure that Anna Gable and Strother G. Jones were ever formally married, their romantic liaison produced one daughter Katherine. Evidence to the relationship is found in numerous Springfield Directories listing Anna as the widow of Strother. Also in 1883 Katherine marries W. J. Corcoran in Decatur, Illinois and lists Strother G. Jones as her father on her marriage license. Katherine is not mentioned in her father's 1901 obituary which leads us to believe all events concerning Strother, Anna and Katherine occurred outside the vows of holy matrimony."
