born 1881 per 1930 Census in CT

from AMHPolito in 2001: Katherine Drost was my ggrandmother, born in Poland. She emigrated to the US in the early 1900's and married Joseph Mercik in 1902/3, also from Poland. Though she reportedly lived in NJ for a period of time, she and my ggrandfather lived in the Hartford, CT area for the remainder of their years. If anyone has any information about Katherine it would be much appreciated.

It is possible that the name Drost was Drozd in Poland, and changed to Drost at Ellis Is (a hunch from internet searches)-s houser

Family lore suggests that she emigrated from Poznan, Poland. During WWII she commented to relatives that "she hoped her relatives in Poland were all right." She had never mentioned Poland in any serios manner before that.
