Facts and Events
Called Oscar Nori in the states. Took wife's name of Nori when they wed. Nori is where her family was from (county?). KAARLO m Finnish Finnish form of CHARLES OSKARI m Finnish Finnish form of OSCAR
It is almost safe to say that hereafter when the home in which he is living is quarantined, on account of a contagious disease, Oscar Nori, 736 North Eleventh street, will stay in the house, especially after he has been warned about the violation of the rules. Complaint was made to the health department several days ago that persons were entering and leaving the home on Eleventh street, even though it was quarantined for scarlet fever and Health Commissioner Hagey ordered that the folks be told the consequences if they did such a trick again. Captain Rowe made a trip to the house on Eleventh street and read the riot act to the occupants of the house standing several feet away from the doors and windows, but made sure the people understood what he meant. Saturday afternoon complaint was again made that a man had entered the house and left it again, and the police was ordered to get the offender. Nori was brought down to the station, and when arraigned before Judge Glidden was given a raking over that he will remember for some time, and then assessed a fine. The scarlet fever scare here is not yet over and unless people use a little common sense the disease is apt to reach serious proportions. It is the duty of every citizen of the city to report quarantine violations, and with a little co-operation the part of the people these people who seem to have but little respect for the law will be made to obey them.
The case of Oscar Nori, 736 North Eleventh street, which was before the police court recently, was mis-interpreted at the station yesterday. Nori was arrested because he was the head of the family and the members of the family were the ones to violate the quarantine regulations. Mr. Nori himself has a room separate from the rest of the family, and enters and leaves by way of a window. The most important thing for which he was arrested, however, according to the chief of police this morning was the fact that when the health commissioner visited the place, one child was found hidden away in a closet, and seriously ill with the contagious disease. Nori has given his word to the authorities here that he will see to it that no one enters or leaves the house in violation of the quarantine rules. This is my best guess as to the transcription of what I believe to be a letter of introduction from their Finnish home parish/church to a new one in America. Dioecesis Aboensis Magni Princ Finl.
