June A. ZEMKE, 94, of Barron, formerly of Clayton, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at Monroe Manor in Barron, Wisconsin. She was born October 29, 1917 in Arland Township, the daughter of Oscar and Gladys (Pearson) Wold. She married Walter C. Zemke on December 25, 1937 at Chetek. They farmed in Turtle Lake Township for 34 years. June and Walter moved to Barron in 1978.

June was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, and was an active volunteer for many years at the Yours, Mine and Ours Thrift Store in Rice Lake. She loved sewing and provided each of her grandchildren a quilt for their wedding. In addition, June volunteered many hours sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief and knitting baby hats and mittens for church projects. She is survived by; Daughters: JoAnn Birkholz of Rice Lake, WI, Judith Pahlow of White Bear Lake, MN, Donna (David) Feidt of Onalaska, WI, 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, Sisters: Sylvia Schmidt of Amery, WI, Margaret Greschner of Prairie Farm, WI, Nadeane Gruenwald of Burnsville, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter on June 2, 2004, 1 grandchild, and 1 son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Barron with Rev. Ronald Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Wayside Cemetery in Barron. Visitation will be held at Salem Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Rausch & Steel Funeral Home, Barron, is handling the arrangements.
