    June Elizabeth Willis, 87, went to be with the Lord at 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

    June was born in Lee County, Virginia on June 30, 1924. She was one of nine children born to Eugene and Della E. (Pickering) Blondell.

    In 1940 she married Walter H. Jesse and shortly after he was killed in a mining accident. She later met and married James Ralph Willis on November 30, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2002.

    June was no stranger to hard work; she actually took pleasure and pride in yard work, household projects, remodeling, canning, flower gardening and much more. She also worked many years at various places in Martinsville including the B & K Drive-In, A&W, IGA, and the Harry Kindred Market. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother and serving the Lord. She had been a devoted member of the Shelby St. Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Greenwood for many years.

    Passing from this life on her 64th wedding anniversary, she left behind a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly including; her son and daughter-in-law, Bill & Sandra Willis of Martinsville; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda & Ola Stevens of Martinsville; daughter-in-law, Karen Willis of Martinsville; twelve grandchildren, Mark, Duane and Jeffrey Jesse, Stephanie Elder, Glen & David Stevens, Brooke Ramirez, Josh and Drew Willis, Brandy Ecker and Sam & James Purdue; and nineteen great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sons, Jerry Willis in 2010 and Walter H. Jesse, Jr. in 1978; four brothers, Coy, Floyd, Willard & Burley Blondell; and four sisters, Sarah Lane, Marie Baker, Sybil & Helen Blondell.

    Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, December 2nd from 5-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 3rd from 10-11 a.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. Brother Wayne Grace will conduct a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 3rd beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
