Julian Burr EDDY Jr. EDDY, Julian Burr Jr. Julian "Ted" Burr Eddy Jr., of Farmington, died at Hartford Hospital on Monday (June 14, 2010). He was married for 56 devoted years to the love of his life Claire Gworek Eddy. Born October 8, 1930, he was the son of Julian and Edith Eddy of West Hartford, graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford in 1948, and the University of Connecticut School of Agriculture in 1952. Ted operated Tow Path Gardens, a family-owned nursery business that was known for its exhibits in the New York, Boston, and Hartford flower shows, winning numerous awards. Beginning as a teenager, he had a lifelong passion for car racing and was part of the organization that ran Cherry Park Speedway in Avon. Ted was a fanatical Red Sox, UConn basketball and football fan. He also had a great love for the ocean. Over the years, he has been an active member and officer in the Farmington Jaycees, the Farmington Exchange Club, and most recently the West Hartford Squires. He is survived by his son Paul Eddy and wife Elizabeth Normen of West Hartford and their daughters Avery and Julia, son Alan Eddy of Madison and his sons Christopher and Michael, son John Eddy and wife Lynn Uzzo of Orinda, California and their daughters Elizabeth and Courtney. He also leaves his sisters Phyllis and her husband Edward Beach of Pleasant View, TN; and Grace and her husband Roger Castle of Tariffville; and his aunt Martha O'Brien of Hermosa Beach, CA. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Thursday (June 17, 2010) from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (June 18, 2010) at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104.
