Julia E. Loughner
Julia Elizabeth Loughner ('Bette'), 91, of Traditions of Hershey, 100 North Larkspur Drive, Palmyra, PA, formerly of Lancaster, entered into rest on Thursday, September 9, 2010 in Harrisburg, PA.
Born in North Carolina on January 26, 1919, she was the widow of the late Russell M. Loughner. She was the daughter of the late Charles Edwin Rosemond and Sarah Elizabeth Rosemond.
She graduated from Grainger High School in Kinston, NC, and entered Temple University in Philadelphia, PA at the age of sixteen. She was a member of Theta Sigma Upsilon Sorority.
She served as a "Gray Lady" at Temple University Hospital, and also a Volunteer at the Hospital Thrift Shop. Later for many years she was a Volunteer for "Meals on Wheels." She was also a longtime member of the "Daughters of the American Revolution" (DAR).
Mrs. Loughner was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church, Springfield, (Del. Co.) PA. She lived in Rosemont, PA for many years. Locally she was a member of the Olde Hickory Golf Club and "Lancaster Dance of the Month Club", now known as the 'Caper Club'. She was a very talented Artist, (Oil paintings and Japanese silk screen were her specialties), an excellent golfer and bridge enthusiast. She also loved to read. Always sweet tempered, refined, and good-natured, she was considered a true "Southern Bell". She loved animals, had a great sense of humor, and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was well respected by everyone who knew her. She will be sadly missed by all.
Bette and Russ were married March 9, 1940 and are survived by one daughter, Jean L. Meyer of Lebanon, PA. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two grandchildren, Laura A. Jasick of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jason A. Meyer of Mt. Gretna, PA. Also surviving are one great granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Jasick of Fort Worth, Texas, and one great grandson, Xen A. Meyer of Mt. Gretna, PA. Her brother, Dr. George P. Rosemond, formerly of Lancaster, preceded her in death.
